Chargepoint thermal testing

August 14, 2021

Heat is the silent killer of charge points

After five years of designing charge points at Andersen EV, we've developed a deep understanding of what truly makes a charge point reliable.
One lesson we've learned time and again.

Excessive thermal loading especially on critical components like power supplies and relays, can lead to premature failures, frustrating customers and compromising performance. As EV adoption grows, ensuring long-term durability and consistent operation is more important than ever.

To address this challenge, we are conducting a comprehensive thermal testing programme.

Our approach includes, thermal chambers, simulating extreme environmental conditions to assess how our electronics withstand heat stress and thermal imaging cameras, pinpointing potential hotspots within our charge points to optimize cooling efficiency.

This rigorous testing ensures that every charge point we design delivers industry leading thermal performance, keeping components cool and operational for years to come. By refining our enclosure designs and integrating smart cooling strategies, we are engineering charge points that stand the test of time, providing users with exceptional reliability in all conditions
