December 15, 2022

Strengthening Security in EV Charging

Schedule 1, the second phase of the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021, will officially come into effect on 30th December 2022, introducing enhanced security measures to ensure greater protection, reliability, and resilience in EV charging infrastructure.

At Simpson & Partners, we fully support these new regulations, as security has always been a top priority for us. Our software and electronics are built entirely in-house by our highly skilled development team, utilizing security best practices refined through experience in internet banking and medical system architecture—industries where reliability and data protection are paramount. By applying these rigorous standards to EV charging technology, we ensure that our users benefit from robust security protocols, safeguarding both their data and charging experience.

Since July 2022, the majority of the Schedule 1 security features have already been fully operational in Simpson & Partners Home Series chargers, well ahead of the deadline. The final requirement needed to achieve full Schedule 1 compliance was successfully implemented in all new Home Series charger products manufactured from 12th December 2022 onward.

For customers who purchased a Home Series charger before 12th December 2022, we are pleased to confirm that these units can easily be updated to meet the new compliance standards, ensuring that all Simpson & Partners charge points remain secure, future-ready, and aligned with the latest government regulations.

Our commitment to security, innovation, and customer trust remains at the forefront of everything we do, and these advancements reinforce our dedication to delivering the most secure and forward-thinking EV charging solutions available today.
